annette chiappe (kee-ah-pe)
After studying art and philosophy in college, she gravitated to courses in design and landed an apprenticeship that jumpstarted her career.
In 1998 she opened her studio on the Roaring Fork River, a space in which she continually strives for a fresh composition of balance, harmony and style. “I’ve always had a passion for doing hair—it’s about enhancing what a person has inside, and bringing that out as a reflection into their hair, Annette explains. This passion is evident through her clients’ continued loyalty and patronage.
“At Avalon, we are constantly updating our skills to ensure that we are always on the forefront of design. My team, whose collective experience spans decades, creates, enhances and brings forward the best expression of our clientele.”
Elaine Beauchemin worked in Telluride for nine years before joining Avalon in 2004. She has studied at Vidal Sassoon in London and California and Bumble and bumble in New York. Tagged by her colleagues as Avalon’s fashionista, Elaine is vibrant and passionate about life and the art of high style. When she’s not cutting hair, she savors the mountain life—skiing, hiking, camping and motorcycle trips with friends.
Traci Thomas, truly passionate about her craft, was certified as a manicurist by the time she was 18. The longest member of Avalon’s team, she joined the team in 2000, taking a prime seat on the river where she nurtures your hands and feet. Traci’s priorities are attention to detail, sanitation and her clients’ personal needs. Her heart and expertise are all part of what keep people coming back for more!
Jocelyn Murray is our Salon Manager, the director of interplay between our clients, staff and services. After running a diverse series of design firms, Jocelyn now perceives beauty as an aspect of fine design that genuinely enhances people’s lives. Her colorful, large-scale abstract paintings are featured in the salon.
